Job Description
The purpose of the Procurement Assistant position is to carry out activities associated with the procurement of materials, equipment, supplies and services while complying with policies and procedures. This is accomplished by reviewing and processing requisitions, issuing purchase orders and transmitting to vendors, placing online orders, and processing change orders.

The Procurement Assistant also provides administrative and tactical support, maintain files and departmental budget. Prepares solicitations, attends bid meetings, distribute addenda and communicates outcomes. Coordinates furniture purchases and installs, and resolve order problems and disputes. Handle internal and external requests by providing accurate responses for information requests. Record surplus sales and disposals by maintaining a report of activity for audit purposes.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education
Minimum of an associates degree
Required Experience
Minimum of 3 years of office experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Accuracy & attention to detail, consistency following detailed procedures.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills (spelling, grammar, editing, & proofreading).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities & tasks, to problem-solve & work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe and AdobeSign, OneDrive, and SharePoint
  • Ability to work and cooperate with co-workers and supervisors at all levels.
  • Ability to work with, within, and promote a diverse workforce and environment.
  • Ability to coordinate the activities of several ongoing projects.
  • Ability to maintain customer service and satisfaction as it relates to assigned unit or area of expertise.
