The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is looking for a skilled individual to handle administrative, clerical, and analytical tasks for a legal office within the Southeast Regional Office of Chief Counsel (SEROCC) under the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Governor's Office of General Counsel (OGC). DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role requires you to perform a range of tasks to assist the legal teams. As the office manager, you will be responsible for managing all operational aspects of the office to ensure smooth and efficient workflow. Additionally, you will be involved in organizing and managing legal files, keeping track of litigation deadlines, implementing litigation holds, filing legal documents, and providing support to attorneys with basic legal research and document preparation. Strong interpersonal skills, such as active listening, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving, are essential for this position.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week upon completion of a satisfactory probationary review. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of varied office management or staff work within a public or private legal office.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must have one year or more of advanced use of Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • You must have one year or more of formatting and filing of legal documents.
  • You must have one year or more of proofreading documents accurately, including use of correct legal citations.
  • You must have one year or more of management of large projects, such as exhibit preparation for multi-day trials or hearings.
  • You must have experience handling and maintaining confidential information.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required)
  • Experience with interpreting, editing and/or composing legal documents, including verification of transcript references cited in legal briefs.
  • Professional interaction with clients, opposing counsel, citizens, and/or court officials.
  • Training in and use of Westlaw or Lexis legal research tools and briefing aids.
