Hours for the role are Mon-Thurs 4pm-2:30am

The Pack Off Lead is responsible for leading all other employees in the Pack Off Area by ensuring that all production, quality, policies, standard work, and safety practices are always followed and adhered to. Ensures all products are produced to the proper specifications, including packaging and coding. This position plays an active role in the Company's Lean initiatives.

Essential Competencies:

LEADERSHIP

  • Leads the pack off team by promoting the Spirit of EA Sween Company by creating a friendly and positive work environment.
  • Validates that all team members are following standard work 100% of the time. Coaches team to higher performance levels.
  • Ensures and promotes a team player, friendly and positive work environment.
  • Performs all activities in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices and company policies.
  • With guidance from Human Resources and/or Production Supervisor, coaches, disciplines, and documents work performance and/or policy violations.
  • Assists Human Resources in creating, evaluating, and updating an effective orientation process.
  • Manages the orientation and on-the-job training of all employees in a specific work area such as standard work, safety, GMP's and completion of paperwork for all team members.
  • Ensures all employees are treated fairly in a friendly, safe, clean, and positive work environment.
  • Trains pack off employees in all aspects of production: standard work, GMPs, safety, quality, etc.
  • Communicates daily with the Support Supervisor and Production Supervisor regarding any issues or concerns.
  • Maintains a good attendance record, monitors the attendance of all pack off team employees and promotes the importance of following the Production Attendance Points Policy with all production employees.

FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY

  • Responsible for food safety and quality.
  • Execute assigned food safety, quality, and continuous improvement activities to support SQF 2000 requirements, regulatory requirements, and customers' requirements.
  • Follow all GMP's, standard work and safety practices. Report any incidents where such procedures are not being followed to Support Supervisor or Production Supervisor.
  • Follows, and ensures pack off team follows, all GMPs, government regulations, and safety and production practices/procedures.

SAFETY AND HEALTH

  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, organized work area.
  • Wear all required safety gear. ie: Hard-Hat, gloves.
  • Successfully complete the mandatory E.A. Sween quarterly safety training sessions for complying with both OSHA regulations and E.A. Sween policy.
  • Wears Personal Protective Equipment whenever and wherever necessary, i.e., Hard Hat.
  • Ensures Zero Safety Incidences of Team Members.

PRODUCTION

  • Ensures all products are produced to proper specifications, including packaging and coding.
  • Ensures proper employee rotation schedule is maintained for each work order.
  • Ensures accurate produced counts from all lines and submits all daily completed paperwork within 30 minutes of work order completion.
  • Ensures all metal detector processes are followed 100% of the time.
  • Ensure that all positions are being rotated on a 30-minute basis.
  • Ensures Packagers are following all standard work.
  • 95% of the workday is spent on the Pack-off floor.
  • Meet or exceed 100% fill rates.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime and occasional Saturdays as required.
  • Communicates regularly with RTE personnel regarding downtime, change over, period end, product problems, etc.
  • Monitors the print on the sandwich for correct price and date codes; changes box/bun tray codes and fixes the taper as needed.
  • Ensures there is proper staff available to match production needs and standard crew size per line.
  • Occasionally perform hourly metal detector tests or line changes when Pack-off Lead is not available.

COST (CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT)

  • Works together with production employees, as well as, line controllers, leads, production supervisor and mechanic techs to assemble the lowest cost, highest quality product possible.
  • Suggests additional types of employee training as it relates to process improvement/lean.
  • Contribute to Lean activities.

Requirements:

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to speak and communicate in English.
  • Must have previous high-speed assembly line packaging experience.
  • Must be able to operate weight scale and follow QA/QC policy and procedures.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Must be available for work flexible schedule to include occasional weekends (Saturday).

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous lead or supervisory experience is a plus.

Physical Environment:

  • Must be able to bend, twist, turn, push, pull.
  • Must be able to work in cool conditions, 45 degrees.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to reach overhead.
  • Must be able to be on feet majority of the day.
  • Must be able to keep up with manufacturing speeds.
  • Must be able to work with others.
  • Must be able to handle repetition.
  • Must be able to rotate to all production positions and lines.
