Job Description

The Global Markets & Technologies (GM&T) World Business Unit delivers technological solutions (molecules, equipment and services) to support the new markets of energy transition, maritime logistics and scientific exploration, in order to accelerate Air Liquide sustainable growth. To support the energy transition, GM&T brings environmentally friendly solutions to the clean energy market with hydrogen energy and Bio-Natural Gas for vehicles, refrigerated transport using nitrogen, but also the treatment and injection of Biogas into the energy grid as a local power source.

The Quality Manager ensures conformance to and manages the quality processes and quality performance of the Air Liquide membrane manufacturing facility in Newport, DE. The focus of the Quality Manager is to provide assurance of the robust application of procedures, work instructions, quality management processes, and KPI's within the plant.

This position manages the QC Laboratory Group on site. 3 salaried and 9 exempt direct reports - Training Manager, Quality Coordinator, and Quality Engineer in addition to an underlying organization of approx. 9 hourly/non-exempt employees. The successful candidate will report to the Site Director. This role will be an active participant in Management of Change Process and IMS (Air Liquide Industrial Management System).This position can be located in Newport DE

Quality System Management:
  • Provide Leadership for Quality Systems in the improvement of quality system performance and guidance on meeting Air Liquide and customer quality requirements
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring customer satisfaction through management of customer complaints, review and approval of specifications, and touring, hosting, & entertaining customers during plant visits.
  • Acts as the Management Representative and champions ISO9000 and AS9100 certification audits within the plant
  • Providing guidance and approval for changes to product inspection plans recipes, bill of materials, and fiber release decisions
  • Owner of the Management of Change Process as well as driving compliance with IMS GP-08: Management of Change
  • Manages quality certification of products, coordinates notification of off-spec products, and manages non-conforming disposition by leading the MRB (Material Review Board)
  • Ensure document control is maintained and procedures/work instructions are reviewed and revised on their required frequency
  • Identifies and resolves systemic quality problems through a reduction in variation in processes and components (i.e., SPC, SQC, Pareto charts, GEMBA walks, etc.)
  • Drives effective SPC (statistical process control) program for fiber and membrane performance
  • Conduct RCA (root cause analysis) on quality issues and analyze trends for continuous improvement
  • Develop proposed upgrades to the quality systems based on audit experience, knowledge of international standards and customer needs.
  • Provide oversight of the Training System and associated Air Liquide Industrial Management system group procedures related to competence management.

QC Laboratory Management:
  • Supervision of Quality Coordinator, and a staff of QC Technicians
  • Communicates and engages staff in safety awareness (relative to Lab Safety Standards), quality conformance (Quality Manual), and drives Best-In-Class Laboratory practices, policies, procedures, and test methods. Manages performance of the team to deliver/ ensure superior quality control
  • Oversee the scheduling and compliance to testing schedules to prevent backlog
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, preferable Chemical or Mechanical engineering
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience or 2+ years of experience with Membrane manufacturing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the International Quality Standards, including ISO-9001: 2000 and AS-9100 required
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control
  • Effective self-managing, quick decision making abilities, planning, organizing and priority setting skills
  • Strong Written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to manage a diverse workload, perceive needs of others, be adaptable and be able to make independent decisions.
  • Must have good problem solving skills and be quick to identify, define and resolve problems

Preferred
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt
Salary range for this position in Newport, DE - $110k - $125k with an additional annual target incentive of 11% based on performanceBenefits offered:
