Job Description

Overview

The Compensation Manager will be responsible for Pep Boys compensation function and administer compensation related programs and policies. These include both base salaries, commissions and bonus plans paid to our field associates as well as incentives paid to our corporate staff. Act as SME on Store comp plans and liaise with Store management and Team Members to resolve pay entry discrepancies. This position will deputize for the Director Compensation and be groomed as a successor within 3 years.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee base salary program which includes pay change review, merit and market adjustment recommendations, and minimum wage compliance.
  • Conduct market analysis of company jobs to determine competitive positioning of the organization's pay programs.
  • Oversee incentive programs both commissions and bonus for our field and corporate based associates.
  • Participate in review and design of incentive plans.
  • Partner with both payroll and IT to assure plans are being administered accurately and paying associates as intended.
  • Draft job descriptions, job analyses and classifications.
  • Participates in annual salary administration programs, including salary structure creation and maintenance and development of incentive or salary increase budgets.
  • Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience as a Compensation Manager or similar role, with strong foundational knowledge in developing/implementing a competitive compensation strategy.
  • Thorough understanding of job evaluations, employment classifications, and job analysis systems.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS software.
  • Knowledge of building compensation packages and bonus programs for various departments and seniority levels.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to use influence to drive desired outcomes.
  • Proficient in Excel and data query software.

Experience and Credentials

  • Three to five years of relevant experience.
  • Associate/Technical Degree required. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Experience managing team members preferred.
