General Manager - Raw Materials

The General Manager - Raw Materials will . . .

• Develop, implement, and monitor strategy for raw materials, facility General Maintenance and Stores/Spares facilities. Leads the Raw Material Department for the most efficient disposition of Carpenter's Raw Material assets in the most cost-effective - value adding manner.
• Sets and drives achievement for Raw Material performance through the establishing of KPI's for inventory targets, department operations and maintenance that are aligned with other performance goals.
• Coordinate efforts between Finance, Planning, Technical, Purchasing, Business Units and Manufacturing at all Carpenter locations as it relates to raw materials.
• Implement MES hardware and software solutions as well as related processes. Develop and track metrics and achieve performance goals for MES.
• Develop and implement comprehensive plans to meet Carpenter Raw Material inventory targets. Manage effective disposition of Raw Material waste streams through all Carpenter facilities.
• Direct the activities of the Raw Material organization to maximize improvement in raw material utilization.
• Develop operating and maintenance budgets for areas of responsibility.
• Maintenance planning and activities for areas of responsibility.
• Capital improvement, one (1), Three (3) and Five (5) development of capital spending needs for predictable, repeatable and growth of Reading operations.
• Labor Management of direct reports both salary and or hourly.
• Latrobe Raw materials and charge building operations for Latrobe Arc and VIM furnaces.
• Metalex by-products processing operations.
• Coordination for scrap location and recovery of revert, process scrap from Athens and Hartsville operations.
• Stores, and raw material physical inventory
• Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements for the General Manager - Raw Materials

• 4-year college degree required. Preferably in a related field.
• 10+ years of Manufacturing Experience. Preferably with raw materials.
• At least 5 years' experience in a management role.
• Practical understanding of industrial/manufacturing principles, standards, methods, and practices.
• Advanced knowledge of raw materials and associated waste streams.
• Knowledge of disciplined problem-solving methods.
• Knowledge of positive employee relations practices.
• Full support and utilization of OPEX Mode.
• Experience negotiating with customers and/or organizational leadership to set priorities. Builds organization capabilities to serve customer needs.
