Position Summary The Senior Director - Tax is responsible for ensuring appropriate financial statement accounting for all direct and indirect taxes and for U.S. tax compliance, including federal, state, local and foreign income tax, sales/use and property taxes. As the senior member of the corporate tax function, this position reports directly to the Chief Accounting Officer. Duties & Responsibilities * Ensure proper design, operation, and maintenance of SOX controls, including updates to tax-related SOX 404 documentation, control design, control testing, and remediation efforts. * Responsible for tax planning and documentation of tax positions reached, including research and drafting memoranda. * Ensure proper application of accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) and other accounting pronouncements (g. FIN 48, etc.), including calculations and disclosures. * Liaison with internal and external auditors regarding direct and indirect tax reporting matters. * Collaborate with accounting department regarding gathering data needed for the tax provision and tax return process, as well as to address changes in the business and their impact on the Company's tax position. * Participate in due diligence and/or related supporting activities for mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions. * Oversee all domestic and foreign aspects required for the timely and accurate preparation and filing of all federal income tax returns included within the U.S. consolidated income tax return prepared by co-source provider. * Oversee examinations by tax authorities and resolve disagreements. * Identify tax savings opportunities throughout the tax return process. * Oversee, manage and lead the tax department. * Additional duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * CPA and undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or equivalent training required. * Master's degree in taxation preferred. * Minimum of 7-10 years combined public accounting and/or corporate experience with emphasis on tax accounting and reporting; retail/multi-state experience a plus. * Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to interact and team with lead of operations and co-source providers. * Detail oriented; excellent analytical skills. * Strong process and project management skills, including ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines. * Ability to take ownership for the tax function and drive projects to successful completion. * Travel up to 25%.
