Job Summary

The National Account Manager will manage all activities related to sales and relationships with National Strategic Accounts. This responsibility entails both managing and growing a portfolio of underleveraged accounts (25%), and a strong emphasis on new business development, winning and onboarding target accounts (75%).

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop sales strategies, programs and plans for existing and new business with key large strategic accounts.
  • Develop sales action plan and monitor actual results vs. plan throughout the year, making adjustments when appropriate.
  • Conduct business reviews of accounts and present them as appropriate to management.
  • Develop/manage account-specific sales, pricing and promotional plans, coordinating with finance, marketing, sales management to align with Pep Boys Fleet strategies.
  • Recommend opportunities for increased penetration, based on knowledge of customer and evolving needs.
  • Establish appropriate account contacts and maintain an effective and appropriate call program. Handle inquiries, complaints and service programs working through appropriate functions and acting as liaison relevant activities to customers, internal Pep Boys groups including fleet sales, service, operations and store locations.
  • Responsible for forecasting and partner with cross-functional teams to align on store traffic and mix of services.
  • Utilize insight selling skills to develop and present programs that focus on not only Pep Boys growth, but overall strategic account growth.
  • Effectively collaborates with others to reach mutually agreeable outcomes and to resolve potential conflicts.
  • Uses high level of strategic aptitude to take fleet service offerings and translate to featured benefits among portfolio of accounts.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide variety of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Lead customer meetings and trade conferences as appropriate.
  • Must meet volume growth/market penetration objectives.

Strategic/Major Accounts (SMA) NAM Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Identify and win new major account targets, focusing on higher-margin opportunities.
  2. Actively discover criteria for customer decision-making to inform fleet organization strategies.
  3. Develop dynamic insights and reporting for customers aimed at increasing share.
  4. Collaborate with FMC NAM to develop tailored programs for major/strategic qualified FMC accounts.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven track record in fleet management, account management, or related field.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data and interpreting market trends.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in sales, account management, or business development within the fleet management industry.
  • Familiarity with CRM software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet client needs and attend industry events.

The ideal candidate for all NAM roles will exhibit a metric-driven approach, a hunger for success, and the ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams. This role demands a proactive individual capable of navigating complex business landscapes and driving sustainable growth across diverse fleet segments.

This position can be based anywhere within the US but will require travel to our corporate office quarterly for team meetings, etc.
