Job Description

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jeffersonrsquo;s clinical entities or at the University. Experience: 5+ years of dental assistant experience strongly preferred. Previous experience with medical/dental clinical software strongly preferred. Previous leadership experience preferred

Education amp; Training: High school diploma or equivalent required. Dental Assistant Program or equivalent.

License, Certification amp; Registration: Certificate of Dental Assisting. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Dental Radiology Certificate.

Other Requirements: Excellent communication and organizational skills. Self-motivated. Ability to multitask, trouble-shoot and problem solve effectively. Attention to detail.

Under the direction of the Office Manager and the Clinical Leadership of Associate Director Dental Residency Program, works to support efficient clinical operations to optimize flow and create an excellent patient experience.

Essential Functions

1. Meets all standards of the Patient Satisfaction Initiative Criteria in order to make Abington ndash; Jefferson Health (AJH) the hospital of choice for Patients and Employees

2. Trains and supports the dental assistants, including annual competencies, and contributes to annual performance evaluation

3. Monitors the patient schedule and flow directing dental assistants and residents accordingly to ensure proper coverage and professional handoffs while encouraging teamwork and communication

4. Oversees the opening/closing protocols and the preparation of operatories with the supplies/instruments appropriate to the specialty ensuring prescribed procedures and protocols are up to date and followed

5. Responsible for oversight of equipment/instrument reprocessing, delivery/retrieval from CSR including reconciliation and inventory, infection control training of staff and maintenance of logs/ protocols/MSDS

6. Participates in tracking and ordering of clinical supplies/equipment and lab cases to maintain inventory and to facilitate smooth operation of the office and in the follow up of repairs

7. Performs the role of a dental assistant proactively participating in 4-handed dentistry and anticipating the needs of the residents/attending dentists while rotating through various operatories

8. Performs other duties as assigned
