How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Job Description Summary: As a member of the Process Engineering and Efficiency team, you'll be responsible for identifying and developing projects to improve and maintain the efficiency and production capacity of Airgas Production facilities, including ASUs, VSAs, Liquid CO2 plants, Hydrogen Liquefiers and H2 SMRs. Efficiency Engineers work closely with our zone engineering, plant management and remote center analysts to refine and execute efficiency projects. They also travel to site to conduct efficiency audits and support maintenance turnaround activities. Finally, the efficiency engineers work with the advanced controls teams to step test and develop models for advanced controls routines. This unique position provides a depth and breadth of experiences to challenge and develop engineers to provide them with key skills and knowledge that can be used in many different facets of operations support.

  • Implement the Industrial Management System ("IMS") process for Airgas Merchant Gases Production facilities.

  • Provide support to Facility, Zone staff and Zone Directors, to ensure the proper understanding and implementation of the IMS process.

  • Ensure that methodologies and tools applicable to gap assessments related to installation projects are established.

  • Follow and implement IMS, Federal and Drug Administration ("FDA") & International Organization for Standardization ("ISOs") requirements and Safety regulations.

  • Participate in the creation, updates and reviews of Piping and Instrumentation Diagram ("P&IDs"), Management of changes ("MOC") and Standard Operating Procedure ("SOPs"). Utilize Knowledge of Local Codes and Standards, as well as generally accepted Good Engineering Practice, for design, sizing, and operation of Chemical production facilities.

  • Monitor and evaluate the IMS process effectiveness, to determine and implement improvement actions if necessary.

  • Ensure data and information related to the IMS process performance are collected, analyzed, evaluated, and reviewed during management review meetings.

  • Develop designs, cost estimates, and economic justifications to facilitate the decision-making process at the plant and zone levels for IMS gap closure.

  • Generate authorization for Capital Expenditure Requests ("CAR") and follow-up on the approval process.

  • Assist Plant Manager with the project execution, so that the end result meets the original requirements, in a timely manner and within budget.

  • Work with ASU technology, audit plants and internal documents.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 years of experience in engineering project management, chemical production, refinery, supporting operations engineering, specifying equipment, working with plant management and staff to complete projects, and process engineering.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Position is partially remote, requiring 3 days in office per week.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: 25% domestic travel.
