Job Description

TDX Global Solutions (TDXGS) is located in Swedesboro, NJ, just outside of Philadelphia, PA. Leveraging over 100 years of on staff combined experience, we design power generation, power distribution (switchgear), and balance of plant controls. We manufacture control panels with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), protection relays, metering, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) communication devices in-house. We acquire original equipment manufacturer (OEM) switchgear and populate it to customer specifications. We self-perform in developing all PLC and human-machine interface (HMI) code ourselves to run this equipment. TDXGS has deployed systems locally and internationally through various clients, both commercial and government. There are many paths availed for advancement.


JOB SUMMARY:

The Power System Controls Specialist is responsible for demonstrating some level of experience and expertise in control systems for electrical power generation and distribution systems, plus balance of plant equipment. Will be required to work directly with Engineering and the Production Foreman, or other project designated site lead, to perform some of the following: direct and manage control of panel builds in house and in the field, following TDXGS drawing packages; testing of the panel builds per the TDXGS protocols; and occasional on-site installation work within (CONUS) and outside of the continental United States (OCONUS), enforcing the company's Quality & Safety policies and procedures, while meeting production and project deadlines. This is a working position, typically 8am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday, when in our shop, with exceptions when necessary, and overtime (OT) when in the field.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to interpret customer specifications to eventually design switchgear and controls.
  • Eventually create the TDXGS based documentation necessary for projects, including Electrical Schematics via AutoCAD, Test Procedures and Protocols, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
  • An understanding of PLC and HMI programs - experience with Emerson/GE, Allen-Bradley or Modicon is a plus. Eventually involved in the development of the PLC logic and HMI code.
  • Eventual integration of the PLC and HMI control packages - Emerson Machine Edition; Allen Bradley Panelview; GE Cimplicity; or Inductive Automation Ignition.
  • Familiar with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus Remote Terminal Unit/Transmission Control Protocol (RTU/TCP) and Open Platform Communications (OPC).
  • Troubleshooting capabilities on the programming and controls on site.
  • Willingness to work overtime shifts upon request either in house or on project sites, as needed.
  • Able to travel out of state or country for up to 3-4 weeks at a time. Most projects are on a weekly basis.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Degree in Engineering is a plus or multiple years relevant work-related experience is required.
  • At least 3 years of automation experience.
  • Prior experience with switchgear and controls working around low and medium voltage systems.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Safety programs. Will be required to pass the OSHA 10 Safety course as a minimum.
  • A valid drivers' license issued by the state of residence and in good standing is required.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance. This will require a good financial status on file.

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Computer skills utilizing Microsoft (MS) and Adobe word processing, MS spreadsheets, Outlook email, AutoCAD, various PLC and HMI software's, and Google search when needed.
  • Strong technical background (mechanical/electrical) and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written) and interpersonal skills with co-workers and customers alike.
  • Able to accept tasks from those assigned as immediate project/shop leaders or the executive leadership on hand.
  • Capable of functioning independently and undertake various technical roles when required.
  • Able to perform and pass assigned training courses whether technical, safety, or corporate related.
