Join us as a Mainframe Systems Programmer Lead in our Global Transaction Processing application team working in conjunction with our larger Custody Applications Development Organization.

Brown Brothers Harriman is looking for a talented and self-motivated Technical Team Lead with a strong background in Coolgen and Z/OS Mainframe technologies to be a member of the Global Trade Processing application development team.

The individual in this role will be responsible for analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and troubleshooting of Trade processing solutions. Responsibilities will include development of the new interfaces, enhancements to existing interfaces and troubleshooting issues. The ideal candidate should also possess a high degree of organization, effective communication, the ability to work individually as well as with Systems Developers and Business Analysts and Testers.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Drive architecture roadmap, reference architecture and standards efforts. Provide leadership in all technical aspects of assigned projects.

  • Architect complex end-to-end solutions across mainframe, distributed and business intelligence environments.

  • Develop code and document unit and integration tests that thoroughly exercise logic to ensure application functionality and performance as per business requirements.

  • Work to accomplish organizational goals that are consistent in supporting both IT and Business objectives.

  • Participate in code walk-throughs and create all technical supporting documentation. Provide feedback in accordance with team standards and guidelines.

  • Maintain data integrity, metadata and data lineage for all data intake processes and maintain the necessary Compliance documentation and lineages.

  • Engage and interact with business and IT stakeholders to understand requirements and constraints.

  • Provide usage support for Applications Development, Infrastructure, IT Operations and IT Production Support and user community.

  • Being available 24x7 to assist in problem resolution and high systems availability.

  • Actively participate in periodic BCP exercises; maintains BCP readiness of systems.

  • Guide and provide training to other team members.

Qualifications for the role include:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of experience with Mainframe Application Programming implementation and support.

  • Expert level knowledge in developing both batch and CICS COBOL mainframe programs.

  • Expert level knowledge with Coolgen, CA GEN,DB2 and be able to create efficient SQL queries.

  • Experience with IBM MQ, VSAM, SPUFI, Platinum, Changeman, JCL, Xpediter, FTP/SFTP, as well as other Debugging Utilities.

  • Experience in performance tuning.

  • Good communication skills, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.

  • Participate in code walk-throughs and create all technical supporting documentation. Provide feedback in accordance with team standards and guidelines.

  • Be able to articulate issues and propose viable solutions.
