The Pathology Specialist Senior provides accurate and timely testing and results to requesting physicians and other healthcare professionals for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.

The Pathology Specialist Senior should consistently utilize excellent customer service skills to both internal and external customers at all times. A positive and professional interpersonal style with a strong commitment to the team effort is mandatory.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalentcertification or ASCP categorical certification required within 18 months of hire date in position Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current ASCP or equivalent certification or ASCP categorical certification (within 18 months from hire date in position) Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of three (3) year of clinical or equivalent laboratory experience in molecular diagnostics and cytogenetics. Experience PREFERRED: N/A Education/training REQUIRED: Minimum of a Bachelors of Science Degree in a Life Science from an accredited program* *unless candidate possesses a Ph.D. in a related field or foreign trained M.D. Education/training PREFERRED: Masters of Science Degree in Life Science from an accredited program Independent action(s) required: Performance, evaluation and reporting of procedures outlined in the manual of standard operating procedures. Customer service oriented communications. Notification of panic values to ordering physicians. Resolution of problems in testing and quality control. Maintenance of SOPs. May make initial changes in SOPs as needed with Manager's/Director's approval. Must complete required number of continuing education hours per year. Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): Assumes the responsibilities of a supervisor in his/her absence (weekends, holidays, etc.). Additional position requirements: Rotating weekend as required and if applicable Holiday scheduling as required On-call availability for emergency coverage on any shift as required and if applicable Age Specific groups served: All Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate): Physical Lifting 20-50 lbs.
