IFF is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to work in the Advanced Analytical Biosciences group located at the Wilmington, Delaware site. The successful candidate will be part of the Protein Mass Spectrometry group developing mass spectrometry based bioanalytical methods to support various research programs focused on the next generation of protein-based products.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform intact protein and peptide mapping experiments to identify cleavage patterns, covalent modification, PTMs, and differential expression patterns.
  • Develop LC-MS methods for characterization and quantification
  • Apply with classical protein biochemistry and biophysical techniques including enzymatic digestion, protein/peptide fractionation, and SEC. Will need working knowledge of gel electrophoresis, western blotting, ELISA immunoassay, and others
  • Contribute to skill development and mentoring for colleagues
  • Act as liaison for the group between the other bioanalytical sites -
  • Maintain a strong, external scientific reputation through publications and presentations.
  • Please note that this position is laboratory-based.
Job Requirements

Required Experience:

  • Hands-on skill in practicing protein mass spectrometry
  • Demonstrated knowledge in proteomics and protein sequencing.
  • Demonstrated external record of scientific achievement (via publications, presentations, etc.).
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Hands on experience with orbi-trap mass spectrometers and associated interpretation software
  • Experience with protein deconvolution software

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of non-MS based analytical methodologies to provide alternate solutions to research programs
  • Experience with purification of proteins using classical techniques.

Education requirement

  • Ph.D. degree in STEM field, with 8-10 years in mass spectrometry-based experience
